Starkville is gearing up for one of its most exciting weekends of the year—where SEC competition meets one-of-a-kind community tradition.
With Mississippi State hosting LSU for a full weekend of baseball and softball and the Starkville Derby taking over the Cotton District, there’s no shortage of action.
Super Bulldog Weekend: Bulldogs vs. LSU
Across three days, Dudy Noble Field and Nusz Park will be packed as the Bulldogs take on one of their biggest conference rivals.

From the electric atmosphere at Dudy Noble Field to a full weekend of SEC softball, this series brings high stakes, big crowds, and classic rivalry energy to Starkville.
The Starkville Derby: From Idea to Icon
Just minutes away in the Cotton District, the Starkville Derby adds a completely different—but equally exciting—experience to the weekend.
Founded by a group of friends in 2023, the Derby supports the local hospitality community while giving back to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society.

In just a few years, it has exploded into something much bigger. Now known as the world’s largest weenie dog race, the Derby draws tens of thousands of attendees, generates millions of online views, and raises significant funds for shelter pets.
Event Highlights:
- Grounds open at 9:00 a.m.
- Sam Grisman Project performs at 10:00 a.m.
- Racing traditions begin around 11:00 a.m. with the Old Dominick Call to Post Toast
Between the races, live music, and local vendors, the Derby delivers a fun, high-energy atmosphere with a purpose.
