Southwire expanding operations in Starkville

Wire and cable manufacturer Southwire is expanding its operations in Starkville. The project represents a corporate investment of more than $256 million and will create 128 jobs.

Founded in 1950, Southwire is one of North America’s largest wire and cable producers and serves a range of electrical infrastructure markets. The expansion in Starkville includes the addition of approximately 380,000 square feet to the location’s footprint, along with manufacturing machinery and related equipment that will enable Southwire to meet growing market demand.

The project is part of Southwire’s companywide commitment of more than two billion dollars in modernization efforts across its locations.

Construction is expected to begin in late 2026, with the expanded operations expected to reach full capacity in 2028.
