Located at 503 E. Lampkin Street, this park is subleased by the Starkville Main Street Association to promote and host events year-round for the Starkville community.
Liberty Memorial Garden
The park is home to the “Liberty Memorial Garden”, a memorial and planting honoring the heroic fire fighters and first responders who lost their lives during the 9/11 tragedy, as well as the hometown heroes who have served in Oktibbeha County fire and rescue. The memorial, which was created in 2003, includes an eternal flame housed inside a fire hydrant — the only one of its kind in the nation.
Starkville Community Market
The park is also home to the Starkville Community Market, where locals can purchase locally made products and locally grown food in Summer and Fall on Saturday mornings. You’ll find locally grown food, fresh baked goods, live plants, and local crafts and art.
Rent the Fire Station Park Green Space
Reservations are allowed for the use of Fire Station Park. We request a two-week advance notice for all reservations. Please fill out the form below and we will be in touch shortly. Fees are $150 for a 4-hour reservation and $250 for an 8-hour reservation.
Terms of Rental
- The renter must handle all trash disposal. Empty all trash cans and dispose of trash properly.
- Portable toilets are available from May to October only and may be used for your event. They will be maintained once a week. Please check them before and after your event if you use them.
- All bookings must follow the City of Starkville sound ordinances (See section 16.2)
- All electricity, stage lights, etc., must be configured and tested before your event.
- There is no day-of-event point of contact. Please ensure all issues are resolved prior to the event during working hours.
- Renters may not for any reason block any portion of Fire Station 1 as trucks must be able to exit and enter at any time for emergency purposes.
- Fire Station Park events do not include any street closures for any reason. Rentals may accopany a street closure if a proper special event permit approved by the City of Starkville is included with the reservation request.
- Starkville Main Street Association requests an estimated or exact attendance average after the event is hosted. Email mainstreet@starkville.org your attendance estimate.
