Starkville has been named the best city to retire in Mississippi. The award is given annually by Insurify. Cities were evaluated on housing affordability, healthcare accessibility, life expectancy, low crime rates, pedestrian and driver safety, and general quality of life. Based on these measures, the highest-scoring community in each state is selected.
“Retirees are a vital part of our community and as a certified Mississippi Hometown Retirement community, we actively work to recruit retirees to Starkville. We are pleased to receive this award that recognizes Starkville not only as Mississippi’s College Town but also as Mississippi’s best place to retire,” said Mike Tagert, President and CEO of the Greater Starkville Development Partnership.
“Our quality of life depends highly on where we choose to live, and for retirees, this is no exception,” said Snejina Zacharia, CEO of Insurify. “Insurify’s Best Cities to Retire Awards recognizes the cities across the nation that foster an exceptionally supportive community for their older residents.”
