Starkville’s Main Street now shines a little brighter thanks to a collaboration between the City of Starkville, Mississippi State University, and the Partnership.

Starkville Utilities spent the past few days installing a string light plan that was designed by Mississippi State University’s Fred Carl Jr. Small Town Center Director Leah Kemp & Architect Fran Pharis.

During the official lighting ceremony Mayor Lynn Spruill said, “This is the kind of thing that I think makes Starkville special.” She also added there would be more things of this type happening around Starkville.
Mayor Spruill also thanked the team from Starkville Utilities under leadership of Mr. Kemp for all their hard work, as well as all other coordinating parties involved for the new addition to Main Street including City Engineer Edward Kemp and the city’s Engineering & Street Departments.

Each Thursday night from 5-8 p.m. until November 24, the pictured portion of South Lafayette will be closed to allow pedestrian traffic during the live Dawg Talk show featuring Coach Mike Leach happening at the Greater Starkville Development Partnership office.
