As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and the Fourth of July, there’s no better place to experience history and community than Starkville: Mississippi’s College Town.
Starkville is proud to be featured on Main Street America’s Main Street 250 map, recognizing the city’s unique place in our nation’s story through Johnny Cash’s unforgettable 1965 visit to Starkville. Visitors can explore this piece of music history by visiting the Mississippi Country Music Trail marker and the downtown mural commemorating the legendary artist.

Then, start your Independence Day celebration at the Starkville Community Market Red, White, and Blueberries Market on Saturday, July 4, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Fire Station Park. Shop fresh produce, baked goods, handmade items, local honey, plants, and more while supporting the farmers, makers, and small businesses that make our community special.

Finish the evening at Cornerstone Park for the city’s annual fireworks show. There will be games, music, activities, bounce houses, food trucks and more! This year’s event kicks off at 6:00 pm and the fireworks show will start around 9:00 pm.

Whether you’re discovering a piece of American history or picking up everything you need for your Fourth of July celebration, Starkville is the perfect place to celebrate the people, places, and stories that make our community one of a kind.
