Looking for a Starkville Tradition, Look No Further
Located in the old historic Starkville Post Office, where many of the original fixtures still remain, Reed’s has been catering to Mississippi State University students and the Starkville community since 1991.

After being in business in Tupelo since 1905, the Reed family wanted to extend its vision to Starkville, and it has been a move that the family does not regret.
With its two stores in Tupelo and one in Starkville, the Reed family prides itself on showcasing the best in outdoor wear while also offering the latest in boutique fashion and men’s apparel.
Embracing the Community
Reed’s Starkville sales manager and buyer, Bo Summerford, began working at Reed’s as a sales associate while he was a student at MSU. He and his staff love the Starkville community. They believe that Starkville has the closeness of a small town but the offerings of a much larger one.
There is always something happening and being part of the downtown scene is never dull. They enjoy meeting customers and learning their stories. Summerford credits the team members for doing anything that needs to be done to create the best experience they can for their customers.
Giving Back
The Reed family has a strong tradition of giving back to the community. Summerford mentions that “civic efforts are very important to the entire Reed family [and that] Jack Reed, Sr., always said, ‘What’s good for the community is good for the store.’”

Summerford loves the way that the local merchants support and embrace one another’s unique offerings and states that the overall goal is “to bring shoppers quality products with quality service, and to be great corporate citizens, giving back often and much to the [community].”
Something for Everyone
Reed’s has a great selection of outdoor apparel, boutique fashion, and men’s clothing. Summerford admits that “The world of ‘brands’ is ever changing, [and Reed’s is] constantly looking for ‘what’s next.’”
The wide array of outdoor clothing includes Patagonia, The North Face, Columbia, and Kavu. Summerford admits that women’s fashion is constantly changing, so it is “crucial to stay on top of the trend.”
Some of Reed’s most popular women’s brands include Sadie & Sage, Karlie, POL, and Match Point Linen, so whether you are looking for a cocktail dress or for something more casual, Reed’s has it. In addition to Patagonia and The North Face, Reed’s most popular men’s brands are The Southern Shirt Company, Southern Tide, Southern Marsh, and Duck Head.
Reed’s also offers a wide selection of accessories. These include Ray-Ban and Costa sunglasses as well as Able and Ah-Dorned handbags. The store also features jewelry pieces from Kendra Scott, Ronaldo, Sadie, Yochi, and others.
Reed’s showcases shoes, both men’s and women’s, and Summerford believes that they have “become an important piece of our business plan.” Reed’s sells a wide variety of shoes, including both fashion and outdoor, and their selection is one of the best in town.
Reed’s is centered around tradition and customer service, and as you can see, Reed’s truly has something for everyone!
