Liza Tye & Co.

When you walk into Liza Tye & Company on Highway 12 in Starkville, you see tables stacked high with goodies from all over the state of Mississippi and beyond.

The air is filled with the scent of Kitten Britches candles made in Eupora, and soft classical plays through the speakers creating a peaceful environment for shoppers.

Liza Tye is a special type of business because it rents space to vendors who sell their items in-store.

Jan Smith owned Horsefeathers vendor mall for years. Her friends Mary Ann Richards and Kathy Raye rented their own booths at the outlet. Raye also had booths in Oxford and Madison. After some consideration, the three decided to open their own establishment—Liza Tye & Company.

“I always wanted to have my own business,” said Kathy Raye. “It finally came true.”

For five years, Liza Tye has offered everything you can imagine from unique vendors, most of them from Mississippi. After the passing of Jan Smith and retirement of Mary Ann Richards, Kathy and Stan Raye took full ownership of Liza Tye.

Many made in Mississippi items fill the store. The unique products represent southern towns like Madison, Grenada, Columbus, Batesville, and Brandon.

“We love being here in a college town,” said Raye. “We have some great vendors!”

Look for trendy outfits, fashionable jewelry, and even furniture at the local business. Lamps, hats, dresses, signs, key chains, masks, bracelets, purses, side tables, jam, and so much more can be found at Liza Tye & Company.

A new expansion will allow more vendors to utilize the space. Raye hopes to host classes for her customers. Previously, basket weaving and cookie decorating were offered. The storeowner wants to add classes like wreath making and chalk painting to the list.

Liza Tye is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information and to get a sneak peek at items sold in the store, follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
