Pet Mayor Responsibilities & Eligibility
The Pet Mayor serves as an ambassador of goodwill for Starkville for two years and will make occasional public appearances throughout their term. Cats and dogs are welcome to run for this prestigious honor, however, the pet must be owned by a resident of Starkville, MS or MSU student living in Starkville. A business member of The Partnership may also sponsor or endorse pets for the 2025 election.
Why a Pet Mayor Race?
The Starkville Main Street Association seeks to support our local humane society through this fundraising project, and the City of Starkville received a BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ designation in 2024! We encourage the community to get their pets downtown and around town during all seasons in Starkville.
