Local business owner, Hannah Baird, is serving up sweet and nutritious at NutriGroove in Starkville.

Growing up, Baird was just as much a Starkville native as that of her hometown, West Point.

At the age of 16, Baird graduated and went on to Mississippi University for Women to pursue a degree in accounting. The ambitious entrepreneur received her bachelor’s but could not see herself doing this long term.

A few years ago, Baird saved her money in order to buy a plane ticket for a visit with friends in Hawaii. Acai was mentioned numerous times, and she knew it was something she had to try. Acai is a berry from Central and South America rich in antioxidants.

Baird loved the fruit and decided it would be the focus of her food trailer back home.

All-natural ingredients and sweeteners keep the menu items healthy for all. Baird uses honey from her family’s farm, Stevia for her teas, and the natural sweetness of the fruit in her bowls renders the use of extra sweeteners unnecessary.

Non-toxic flowers are used for embellishment in the acai bowls but can also be eaten! The Beauty Smoothies contain collagen and hyaluronic acid for hair, skin, nails, and joint support.

One of NutriGroove’s most popular products is the Hibiscus Haze herbal tea. Orange and rose hip tea with fresh-squeezed lime and passion fruit will get your mouth watering. Make sure to try the Queen Bee acai bowl, which is named after Baird’s aunt.

NutriGroove has sweet and savory bagels as well. The Local Bagel is a blueberry bagel topped with natural peanut butter, bananas, and honey from local bees. The lox salmon bagel is a big hit with customers.

Her former boss and owner of The Little Dooey, Bart Wood, is proud of her.

“You have a great concept here,” said Wood, “and it’s not only with the healthy choices, but with the bagels too. I see a lot of smiles when people take the sips and bites.”

Baird wants to change the way people think about healthy food.

“My missions is to let people know that not only does acai taste good, it also makes you feel good,” said Baird. “If you change your lifestyle to eating better, you will see a difference.”

Baird thanks Bart Wood for providing the patio space for her business at the start and Starkville citizens for her success.

Nutrigroove is now located in the Cotton District on Page Avenue. They are still serving up the same delicious meals and treats, but now in their new bright and fun venue!

NutriGroove is open on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., closed on Monday, and open Tuesday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. The business is open Saturday from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
