The Greater Starkville Development Partnership-CVB’s fiscal year runs from October 1 to September 30 of each year. In order to efficiently plan a budget for sponsorships, the CVB has enacted a CVB Sponsorship Application process for all individuals, organizations and businesses to fill out and follow through with in order to receive funding from the CVB for tourism events.
The mission of the Convention and Visitors Bureau is to develop, maintain and promote tourism in the Starkville area. The CVB Board, which consists of nine members, acknowledges the many different programs that exist. However, not all of them can be funded completely by the CVB. In order to regulate and consistently sponsor those events that are tourism related, each individual, organization or business seeking financial support must fill out the Sponsorship Application. The application will be reviewed by the CVB Budget Committee, which will start meeting in July, and will then be approved or denied by the entire Board.
The first deadline will be July 31, 2007. All programs that are requesting funding by the GSDP-CVB must fill out an application and be postmarked by July 31, 2007. The event can take place anytime from October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008. There will be in another deadline December 31, 2007; however, it is recommended that all submissions be made by July 31, 2007 to ensure that there is funding available. The December deadline is only for unexpected tourism programs, and there will be a much smaller dollar number set aside at that time.
