GOVERNMENT
The City of Starkville operates
under a code charter stipulating the mayor/aldermen form of government.
The mayor is responsible for day-to-day administration of the city;
the board of aldermen establishes policies, budgets, and appoints
citizens to committees. The mayor and seven aldermen are elected every
four years.

COUNTY GOVERNMENT
Oktibbeha
County government
is managed by five supervisors elected for four-year terms from five county
districts. Supervisors are responsible for the funding and oversight of
all county departments including courts, law enforcement, welfare and health
departments, road construction and maintenance, and other operations. A
County Administrator handles the day-to-day operation.
