The Starkville Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors is a nine member board. Eight of those members are appointed from the community by the Starkville Area Chamber of Commerce and one is appointed by the City of Starkville. The eight members are made up of five individuals from the tourism industry, two are at-large from the community and one is a representative from Mississippi State University. Terms except for the city representative (which is at the will of city) are for three years and those members are limited to two consecutive terms. Their responsibilities include "jurisdiction and authority over all matters relating to establishing, promoting and developing tourism, along with related matters in the Starkville area."
